Our motorhome fleet consists of up to date vehicles, and are serviced regularly but in the unlikely event that you experience problems our free phone will enable you to contact our staff 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

If you are unsure about driving in New Zealand, or are unfamiliar with our road rules our staff will take the time to give you a practical driving lesson at no cost and will demonstrate the features of your home away from home.

Important Information About Your Rentals

On arrival you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the operators of Kahurangi Motorhomes Ltd. Here is a summary of their terms and conditions.

Definitions

The following definitions apply for the Terms and Conditions of Kahurangi Motorhomes Ltd:

 * The Supplier means the operator of Kahurangi Motorhomes Ltd.
 * The Client is also referred to as the hirer (s) or renter (s).

Deposit and Payment
* A non refundable booking deposit is required to secure your motorhome booking. The exact amount is detailed in the breakdown of pricing.
* A second stage payment of $500 is taken shortly after booking confirmation as a separate transaction.
* The remaining balance is due in full, 7 days before the commencement of hire.

Cancellation Fee
The initial deposit paid is non-refundable. In addition to forfeiting your deposit, the following charges also apply:
If cancelled up to 24 days prior to pick-up: No Further Fee.
If cancelled from 24 to 10 days prior to pick-up: 20% of Gross Rental.
If cancelled 9 to 4 days prior to pick-up: 50% of Gross Rental.
If cancelled 3 days prior to pick up or No-Show: 100% of Gross Rental.

Rental Duration
When calculating the number of days a vehicle is rented, the day of pick-up is counted as day one of the rental, regardless of pick-up time. The day of the vehicle's return is counted as the final day of the rental.

-Minimum rental period is 7 days except between May and October and advertised specials.
-Special rates are available for rentals of more than 50 days.
-Late pick up or early return of vehicle does not entitle the hirer to any refund of the unused portion of the rental.
-Late returns will be charged on a per day basis. Failure to obtain authorisation for a rental extension will result in a daily fee of $150 in addition to the daily rate.

One-Way Rentals
One-way rentals are available by prior arrangement. Motorhomes can be dropped off at any New Zealand airport by prior arrangement and will incur additional drop off charges which will be quoted on booking.

Hours For Pick-Up And Drop-Off
Nelson Office. - Pickup & Delivery from and to the Nelson office can be made at any time of the night and day. We are closed on Christmas Day except for emergencies. Kahurangi Motorhomes offer a free pick up and delivery to and from the Nelson Airport if required.

For Your Protection
New Zealand legislation provides Accident Compensation Insurance for personal injury. We strongly recommend that all people travelling in New Zealand take out Personal Travel Insurance.

All vehicles are insured for the damage to the vehicle or to the property of a Third Party. The hirer is responsible for the first NZ$1500 (“the excess”) for Motorhomes of the cost of damage to Third Party property or to the rented vehicle, including single vehicle accident, windscreen and tyre damage, overhead and underbody damage, towing and recovery costs, theft, fire, break-in or vandalism. This also includes the cost of the daily rental for the period the vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs (demurrage).

The excess applies in respect of each claim.

The excess is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident report is completed, not at the completion of the rental. The excess will be refunded if we are successful in recovering the cost of the damages from the Third Party.

Please see the ‘Exclusions’ section below, whereby all insurance cover will be made void.

Exclusions
Insurance does not cover the following:
1. Any water related damage, which includes but is not limited to:
a) any vehicle submersion
b) creek or river crossing
c) driving through low plain flooded areas
d) beach driving

2. Personal belongings: We recommend the hirer does not leave valuables in the vehicle and that they take out personal insurance.

3. If the terms of the Rental Agreement are breached. The hirer will be responsible for the total cost of any damage. This will also include any damage caused by wilful misconduct (e.g. sitting or standing on the bonnet or roof of the vehicle) and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

4. The incorrect use of fuel (fuel being diesel or petrol). The hirer will be responsible for any associated cost.

5. The cost to retrieve or recover a vehicle which has become bogged.

6. The cost to replace keys which have become lost, or retrieval of keys which have been locked in a vehicle.

Vehicle Security Deposit
On pick up of the vehicle, a Vehicle Security Deposit is payable.

A Security Deposit is required of NZ$1500, and is payable by cash, Traveller’s Cheques, or credit cards. Should the Deposit be paid by credit card, authorisation will be gained for the Security Deposit.

The Security Deposit is fully refundable provided the vehicle is returned on time, to the correct location, undamaged, with a clean interior and with full fuel tanks (Fuel being diesel and LPG gas).

We reserve the right to retain a NZ$100 soiling fee if the vehicle is not returned with the interior in a clean condition. The toilet and waste water tank (if applicable) must be emptied prior to the return of the vehicle, or an additional NZ$100 soiling fee will be retained.

Failure to return the vehicle with full diesel and/or LPG tanks will result in refill charges. Diesel and LPG gas refill charges will be advised upon return of the vehicle.

Infringements
We reserve the right to charge the hirer for any speeding or parking fines, associated administration costs and/or accidents including third party property damage not reported on return of the vehicle.

The administration fee per fine will be NZ$50.

Exchange Rate / Currency Variations
All credit card transactions are conducted in New Zealand dollars. Due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. Kahurangi Motor Homes Limited does not accept any liability for variances up or down.

Credit Cards
If a credit card is presented as payment, the credit card holder will be jointly and severally liable as a customer. Preferred credit cards are Visa Card, Mastercard & Diners

Drivers Licence
A full resident country drivers licence, held for a least one year, is to be presented at the time of rental. If the licence is not in English format, an international drivers licence is also required.

Age Restrictions
Drivers must be 25 years of age or over.

Kitchen & Personal Kit
Crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils and linen (towel, pillow, pillowcase, duvet, bed sheet, tea towel) are included in the daily rental rate at no extra cost.

Change Of Drop Off Destination
If the hirer wishes to change the drop-off destination after the rental has commenced, they must first obtain authorisation from Kahurangi Motor Homes Limited. Subject to the change being approved, an additional charge of up to NZ$500 will apply.

Rental Extension
If the hirer wishes to extend the rental whilst on hire, they must first obtain authorisation Kahurangi Motor Homes Limited in Nelson. This is subject to availability. The extra cost of an extended rental must be paid by credit card over the telephone on confirmation of the rental extension.
Failure to obtain authorisation will result in a daily fee of NZ$150 in addition to the daily rate.

Road Restrictions
Motorhomes can only be driven on sealed/bitumen or well-maintained roads. No vehicle shall be driven on Skippers Road (Queenstown), Ninety Mile Beach (Northland), Ball Hut Road (Mt. Cook), North of Colville Township (Coromandel Peninsula), and Tapu-Coroglen Road (Coromandel Peninsula).

On-Road Assistance
Any problems associated with the vehicle, including equipment failure, must be reported to Kahurangi Motor Homes Limited as soon as possible.

Repairs
Repairs up to NZ$100 may be affected without authorisation and will be reimbursed. For amounts over NZ$100, Kahurangi Motor Homes Limited will need to be informed in advance. Repairs will be approved provided the hirer was not directly responsible for the damage. Receipts must be submitted for any repair or the claim will not be paid.

Supply
If for reasons beyond our control the reserved vehicle cannot be supplied on pickup, a substitute will be offered. Should a substitute not be available our liability is limited to a full refund of monies received by Kahurangi Motor Homes Limited.

Travel insurance
We strongly recommend that clients ensure they take out the highest level of travel insurance. In many cases this will cover any losses incurred if you are forced to cancel your booking.

Additional Extras
To be requested at time of reservation and paid by customer on pick up:
Picnic Table - NZ no charge.
Picnic Chair - NZ no charge.
Child / Booster seat - NZ$ 25 per rental.
Television (12VDC) $10 per day to a maximum of $100 per rental.
Snow Chains Free of charge

Personal And Company Cheques
Personal and Company cheques will not be accepted as payment for rentals at the time of pick-up. These must be received by 14 days prior to commencement of rentals. Personal or Company cheques are not acceptable as the refundable security deposit.

Animals
No animals are permitted in our vehicles, excluding guide dogs.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 1.75% credit card charge will be added when your payment is processed.

A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Amendments
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 75.00
To add or remove extras to/from confirmed booking: 20.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.

Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.

In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 75.00
To add or remove extras to/from confirmed booking: 20.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.

Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.

For Your Protection
New Zealand legislation provides Accident Compensation Insurance for personal injury. We strongly recommend that all people travelling in New Zealand take out Personal Travel Insurance.

All vehicles are insured for the damage to the vehicle or to the property of a Third Party. The hirer is responsible for the first NZ$1500 (“the excess”) for Motorhomes of the cost of damage to Third Party property or to the rented vehicle, including single vehicle accident, windscreen and tyre damage, overhead and underbody damage, towing and recovery costs, theft, fire, break-in or vandalism. This also includes the cost of the daily rental for the period the vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs (demurrage).

The excess applies in respect of each claim.

The excess is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident report is completed, not at the completion of the rental. The excess will be refunded if we are successful in recovering the cost of the damages from the Third Party.

Please see the ‘Exclusions’ section below, whereby all insurance cover will be made void.

Exclusions
Insurance does not cover the following:
1. Any water related damage, which includes but is not limited to:
a) any vehicle submersion
b) creek or river crossing
c) driving through low plain flooded areas
d) beach driving

2. Personal belongings: We recommend the hirer does not leave valuables in the vehicle and that they take out personal insurance.

3. If the terms of the Rental Agreement are breached. The hirer will be responsible for the total cost of any damage. This will also include any damage caused by wilful misconduct (e.g. sitting or standing on the bonnet or roof of the vehicle) and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

4. The incorrect use of fuel (fuel being diesel or petrol). The hirer will be responsible for any associated cost.

5. The cost to retrieve or recover a vehicle which has become bogged.

6. The cost to replace keys which have become lost, or retrieval of keys which have been locked in a vehicle.
