Important Information About Your Rentals

On arrival you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the operators of Kahurangi Motorhomes Ltd. Here is a summary of their terms and conditions.

Cancellation Fee

For Your Protection
New Zealand legislation provides Accident Compensation Insurance for personal injury. We strongly recommend that all people travelling in New Zealand take out Personal Travel Insurance.

All vehicles are insured for the damage to the vehicle or to the property of a Third Party. The hirer is responsible for the first NZ$1500 (“the excess”) for Motorhomes of the cost of damage to Third Party property or to the rented vehicle, including single vehicle accident, windscreen and tyre damage, overhead and underbody damage, towing and recovery costs, theft, fire, break-in or vandalism. This also includes the cost of the daily rental for the period the vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs (demurrage).

The excess applies in respect of each claim.

The excess is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident report is completed, not at the completion of the rental. The excess will be refunded if we are successful in recovering the cost of the damages from the Third Party.

3. If the terms of the Rental Agreement are breached. The hirer will be responsible for the total cost of any damage. This will also include any damage caused by wilful misconduct (e.g. sitting or standing on the bonnet or roof of the vehicle) and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

4. The incorrect use of fuel (fuel being diesel or petrol). The hirer will be responsible for any associated cost.

5. The cost to retrieve or recover a vehicle which has become bogged.

6. The cost to replace keys which have become lost, or retrieval of keys which have been locked in a vehicle.

Vehicle Security Deposit
On pick up of the vehicle, a Vehicle Security Deposit is payable.

A Security Deposit is required of NZ$1500, and is payable by cash, Traveller’s Cheques, or credit cards. Should the Deposit be paid by credit card, authorisation will be gained for the Security Deposit.

The Security Deposit is fully refundable provided the vehicle is returned on time, to the correct location, undamaged, with a clean interior and with full fuel tanks (Fuel being diesel and LPG gas).

We reserve the right to retain a NZ$100 soiling fee if the vehicle is not returned with the interior in a clean condition. The toilet and waste water tank (if applicable) must be emptied prior to the return of the vehicle, or an additional NZ$100 soiling fee will be retained.

Failure to return the vehicle with full diesel and/or LPG tanks will result in refill charges. Diesel and LPG gas refill charges will be advised upon return of the vehicle.

Infringements
We reserve the right to charge the hirer for any speeding or parking fines, associated administration costs and/or accidents including third party property damage not reported on return of the vehicle.

The administration fee per fine will be NZ$50.

Exchange Rate / Currency Variations
All credit card transactions are conducted in New Zealand dollars. Due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. Kahurangi Motor Homes Limited does not accept any liability for variances up or down.

Credit Cards

Drivers Licence

Age Restrictions

Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 75.00
To add or remove extras to/from confirmed booking: 20.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.

Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.

For Your Protection
New Zealand legislation provides Accident Compensation Insurance for personal injury. We strongly recommend that all people travelling in New Zealand take out Personal Travel Insurance.

All vehicles are insured for the damage to the vehicle or to the property of a Third Party. The hirer is responsible for the first NZ$1500 (“the excess”) for Motorhomes of the cost of damage to Third Party property or to the rented vehicle, including single vehicle accident, windscreen and tyre damage, overhead and underbody damage, towing and recovery costs, theft, fire, break-in or vandalism. This also includes the cost of the daily rental for the period the vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs (demurrage).

The excess applies in respect of each claim.

The excess is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident report is completed, not at the completion of the rental. The excess will be refunded if we are successful in recovering the cost of the damages from the Third Party.

Please see the ‘Exclusions’ section below, whereby all insurance cover will be made void.

Exclusions
Insurance does not cover the following:
1. Any water related damage, which includes but is not limited to:
a) any vehicle submersion
b) creek or river crossing
c) driving through low plain flooded areas
d) beach driving

2. Personal belongings: We recommend the hirer does not leave valuables in the vehicle and that they take out personal insurance.

3. If the terms of the Rental Agreement are breached. The hirer will be responsible for the total cost of any damage. This will also include any damage caused by wilful misconduct (e.g. sitting or standing on the bonnet or roof of the vehicle) and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

4. The incorrect use of fuel (fuel being diesel or petrol). The hirer will be responsible for any associated cost.

5. The cost to retrieve or recover a vehicle which has become bogged.

6. The cost to replace keys which have become lost, or retrieval of keys which have been locked in a vehicle.
